Killer B's

Biggio and Bagwell.

In this day and age of free agency and spoiled athletes, there is no set of teammates in professional sports more defined to one team than these gentlemen. They play with class. They play with sportsmanship. They are a pair for all youngsters and baseball fans alike to look up to.

Craig Biggio (18 seasons) has played three vastly different positions (catcher, second base, outfield) with the Houston Astros with little complaint. Having only been on the disabled list once in his career, he continues to hustle out every play. With no signs of slowing down, he holds numerous Astros' franchise records and just set the modern day ML record for being hit-by-pitch.

Jeff Bagwell (15 seasons) has been the Astros' fixture at first base during his tenure. Consistently playing through pain in his arthritic shoulder (until he could bear it no more this season), the soft-spoken Bagwell remains a leader by example in the clubhouse. It would be a shame if the strange-stanced-swinger never played again.

Although playoff success finally struck last season, no one in baseball deserves to win a World Series more. Even if they don't, I am proud that they have kept their loyalty to one organization and play the game the way it was meant to be played. I challenge anyone to find a better set of teammates in professional sports today.

I look forward to seeing them become the first players in Major League history to enter the Hall of Fame with Astros hats on.

Go 'Stros!!
